Corpus Christi, Texas – NOAA Weather Radios across South Texas will be offline through Wednesday as the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi performs a scheduled system upgrade. Emergency managers urge residents to use alternate ways to get weather warnings.

According to the NWS, the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) is being updated from Monday, June 16, through Wednesday, June 18. While forecast products and warnings will continue without interruption, NOAA radio transmitters and the local forecast line (361-289-1861) will be unavailable during the upgrade.

Key impacts include a temporary halt to graphical forecast maps and climate text products (CLI, CF6), which rely on systems being updated. Despite the outage, the Corpus Christi office will remain open and staffed 24/7, and core warning services will continue through TV, weather apps, and county alert systems.

Residents across Nueces, Kleberg, and surrounding counties should have multiple backup methods to receive alerts, especially with summer storm season ramping up. Stay weather-aware and avoid relying solely on NOAA radio for emergency updates this week.

Warnings and advisories will continue as normal, but NOAA radio service will remain offline until late Wednesday.
