LUBBOCK, Texas – Drivers in Lubbock should prepare for patchy fog early Tuesday morning before storm chances return by midweek. Visibility could be reduced on I-27 and surrounding highways, creating potential hazards during early commutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, skies stay mostly clear through Tuesday with highs near 87 degrees. Winds remain light, from the south at 5 to 10 mph. By Wednesday, however, a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 1 p.m., with storms lingering into Wednesday night.

Localized thunderstorms could bring brief downpours and lightning, slowing traffic and outdoor activity. Residents should secure outdoor items, charge devices in case of brief outages, and monitor road conditions before traveling.

Thursday holds a stronger storm chance, with a 30 percent likelihood of showers and thunderstorms after midday. Highs dip into the lower 80s as cloud cover increases. Outdoor plans later this week should account for changing skies and cooler air by Friday.

The weekend looks unsettled, with storm chances persisting Friday and Saturday, though drier air may return by Sunday. Temperatures stay seasonal, topping out near the upper 80s.

Motorists along I-27 and surrounding county roads should remain alert through Wednesday evening as scattered storms could trigger sudden travel delays.
