Austin, TX – Isolated severe storms are expected to impact portions of South Central Texas late Friday, with the highest threat concentrated in the southern Edwards Plateau region.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, strong to severe storms are likely between 10 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday. The primary hazards include large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning. Storms are forecast to remain isolated, but residents in western counties including Rocksprings, Junction, and Leakey should be on alert for rapidly changing conditions.

Elsewhere in the region, including cities like Austin, San Antonio, and New Braunfels, mild temperatures and mostly cloudy skies are expected overnight with lows in the 60s. No significant rainfall is forecast for the eastern counties during this timeframe.

The National Weather Service advises having multiple ways to receive warnings overnight, particularly for those in areas with elevated thunderstorm risk. Residents are encouraged to shelter indoors if storms approach and avoid travel during high wind or hail conditions.

This weather pattern is not uncommon for April, but any severe activity poses a risk to safety and property. Stay informed through local alerts and NOAA weather radio.
