HOUSTON, Texas – Southeast Texas is bracing for a brief round of storms and showers before a stretch of classic fall sunshine returns. The National Weather Service in Houston reports a 30–50% chance of thunderstorms late Friday into Saturday, especially along and east of Interstate 45 through the Houston metro area.

Residents planning outdoor events should stay weather-aware. Rain and isolated lightning may briefly interrupt Friday evening and Saturday morning activities, but severe weather is not expected. Rain will taper by midday Saturday as drier air moves in from the west, giving way to clearing skies and highs near 89°F.

Sunday marks a sharp change — a full return to sunshine and drier conditions. Expect a high near 85°F, light winds, and lower humidity — perfect for pumpkin patch visits, outdoor dining, or Astros watch parties. The warm trend continues early next week with highs pushing back into the upper 80s under mostly sunny skies.

No major weather hazards are expected through midweek, making this an ideal window for fall yardwork or late-season beach trips.

Friday and Saturday’s brief storm chances serve as a reminder that Gulf moisture still has influence, even in mid-October. Keep an umbrella handy early, but expect Texas fall perfection by Sunday afternoon.
