Midland, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, in effect from 9 p.m. CST Wednesday to 9 a.m. CST Thursday.
According to the NWS, northeast winds between 35 and 45 mph are expected, making travel through the area hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles such as campers, vans, and tractor-trailers. Wind speeds may be strong enough to cause road closures or delays in Guadalupe Pass.
Officials urge motorists to avoid travel through the affected region if possible or seek alternative routes. Those who must travel should exercise extreme caution and be prepared for sudden wind gusts that could affect vehicle stability.
The warning includes Pine Springs and Guadalupe Mountains National Park, where outdoor activities may be impacted by dangerous wind conditions. Visitors and hikers are advised to secure loose items and avoid exposed ridges or open areas.
The High Wind Warning remains in place until 9 a.m. CST Thursday. Residents and travelers should stay informed on weather updates and plan accordingly. For real-time road conditions, check with the Texas Department of Transportation or local authorities.
