Midland, TX – A significant weather event is unfolding across West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. A Freeze Warning has been issued for the region, including Midland and Odessa, lasting from 7 PM CDT tonight until 10 AM Sunday. Temperatures are expected to dip as low as 25°F in some areas, with higher terrain seeing temperatures plummeting to 20°F. This could result in frost and freeze conditions, potentially damaging crops and sensitive vegetation.

According to the National Weather Service, the freeze conditions could also impact unprotected outdoor plumbing, so residents are advised to take precautions. The affected areas include Midland, Odessa, and surrounding counties, with the freeze particularly severe in the higher elevations.

In addition to the freeze, a High Wind Warning is in effect for the Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains. Winds are expected to reach 35-45 mph, with gusts as strong as 60 mph, starting at 1 PM CDT today and lasting through 9 PM CDT. These strong winds could make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles like campers and trucks.

Travelers are urged to delay trips through the Guadalupe Pass area if possible, and take steps to protect plants and outdoor plumbing from the cold temperatures.
