Fort Worth, Texas – Highs are climbing and storms aren’t far behind — Fort Worth is headed toward a near-summer setup this week, with a high of 88°F expected Wednesday and a slight chance of thunderstorms returning by Wednesday night and into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Tuesday will stay calm and sunny with highs near 83°F and gusts up to 20 mph. But by Wednesday, south winds will increase to 15 mph, pushing temperatures near 88°F — a summerlike spike that could make outdoor work and travel uncomfortable, especially along I-35W and Loop 820.

Storms could re-emerge by Wednesday night, with a 20% chance of rain, especially southeast of downtown. Thunderstorm chances remain slight into Thursday evening, though temps hold steady in the mid-80s. Winds will shift from the south to the east, a sign of incoming instability.

If you’re heading out midweek, stay hydrated and watch for brief, isolated downpours, especially in lower-lying or flood-prone neighborhoods.

Here’s a look at the extended Fort Worth area forecast:

  • Friday: Sunny, high of 87°F, south winds gusting up to 20 mph
  • Saturday: 20% chance of thunderstorms, high 91°F
  • Sunday: Continued 40% storm chance, high near 84°F
  • Memorial Day: 40% chance of rain and storms, partly sunny, high 82°F
