According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, an Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. CST Thursday for multiple counties, including Brazos, Washington, Waller, Montgomery, and the Houston metro area. Wind chill values will range between 10 and 15 degrees through the evening before dropping below 10 degrees overnight in some areas.
Residents are urged to take precautions against hypothermia and frostbite. Authorities recommend wearing warm clothing, limiting outdoor exposure, and ensuring pets have a warm shelter. Older adults and vulnerable individuals should be checked on regularly. Additionally, residents should use heaters safely and avoid using generators or grills indoors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
