Fort Worth, TX – Warm, dry, and breezy conditions will increase the wildfire threat across North and Central Texas each afternoon next week, with the most dangerous conditions expected on Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the fire threat will be elevated from Tuesday through Thursday, particularly west of Highway 281, where dry air and gusty winds will create ideal conditions for rapid fire spread. By Friday, stronger winds could lead to a critical wildfire threat in some areas.
High temperatures will rise throughout the week, with Dallas-Fort Worth expected to reach the mid-80s by Thursday. Similar warming trends will occur in Waco, Temple, Killeen, and Sherman-Denison. The NWS also noted the potential for storms in East Texas on Friday, though fire risk remains high elsewhere.
Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarette butts, and secure equipment that could generate sparks. Authorities will monitor conditions closely, and fire weather warnings may be issued if conditions worsen.
