Abilene, TX – A line of dust is moving into West Central Texas this morning, impacting visibility and road conditions across the region. Residents are urged to exercise caution as blowing dust reduces visibility to between one and five miles.
According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, the dust is coming from the west and northwest and is expected to persist throughout the morning. Additional dust may develop in the afternoon as winds increase between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Drivers in affected areas, including Abilene and San Angelo, should prepare for sudden drops in visibility and hazardous travel conditions. Officials recommend reducing speed, using headlights, and maintaining a safe following distance when driving through dusty conditions.
The dust storm is expected to clear later today as winds shift. However, residents should stay updated on weather advisories in case conditions worsen.
