Fort Worth, TX – A blanket of dense fog has settled across North Texas this morning, softening streetlights and slowing travel on major highways. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 9 a.m. CST Sunday, with visibility dropping below a quarter mile in spots.

The advisory spans from Dallas and Fort Worth west through Mineral Wells and north toward Gainesville and Sherman, covering much of the I-20 and I-35 corridors. Motorists should use extra caution, especially before sunrise, when visibility may be near zero in low-lying or rural areas.

Meteorologists say calm winds and moist air are creating ideal conditions for fog development. By late morning, the fog should lift, giving way to mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s — a mild December day across the Metroplex.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and avoid high beams, which reflect off the fog and reduce visibility further. Experts also recommend leaving extra space between vehicles and avoiding sudden stops.

Clearer skies dominate Monday through Wednesday, with highs gradually rising into the mid-60s before cooler air returns late in the week. Long-range patterns suggest a shift toward a colder, more active setup after Dec. 11, which could bring rain and a few early winter fronts into northern Texas.
