Austin–San Antonio, TX – A thick, milky fog covers the Hill Country this morning, cloaking roads and fields in a hazy stillness. Visibility has fallen sharply east of Interstate 35, where dense patches make it difficult to see more than a few car lengths ahead.

The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Special Weather Statement warning that fog will persist through at least 9 a.m. CST Sunday, gradually lifting as sunshine and drier air mix in. Early-morning travelers along I-35, U.S. 183, and Highway 90 should drive with caution, keep headlights low, and maintain extra spacing between vehicles.

By midday, skies turn bright and breezy, with highs near 75°F in San Antonio and lower 70s around Austin. A light southwest wind will build into the afternoon, offering a warm and pleasant stretch through Tuesday. Monday’s highs reach the mid-60s, followed by upper 60s to low 70s Tuesday, marking a mild start to December across central Texas.

Meteorologists note that a cooler front may slide south late next week, returning early-morning fog potential by December 11-12 and signaling a broader pattern change across the southern U.S.
