Austin, TX – Temperatures in Austin are on a roller coaster this week, with warmer conditions giving way to a late-week Arctic chill. Residents should brace for a shift from the 60s to highs in the 40s by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies Monday will give way to partly cloudy conditions on Tuesday, with a high near 58°F. Winds will remain calm early in the week, offering mild conditions for outdoor activities. By Wednesday night, there’s a 20% chance of showers ahead of a Thursday high near 62°F.

Thursday night, an Arctic front begins its sweep, with temperatures dropping into the mid-40s by Friday morning. Rain is likely during this transition, so commuters along I-35 and surrounding roadways should prepare for slick conditions. Friday’s high will struggle to reach 50°F, marking the start of a much cooler stretch.

The weekend looks dry but cold, with Saturday bringing sunny skies and highs only in the upper 40s to low 50s. The National Weather Service advises residents to dress in layers and take precautions against potential icy patches on elevated roadways.
