Fort Worth, TX – North and Central Texas will stay unseasonably warm through the week before a cold front brings scattered rain chances and cooler weather this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
High temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 80s to low 90s through Friday — roughly 5 to 10 degrees above normal for mid-October. Sunny skies and dry conditions will dominate until late in the week, with only a few clouds Thursday and Friday.
According to the NWS, an upper-level pattern change will move in from the Plains beginning Friday night, October 17, into early Sunday, October 19. The front could spark widely scattered showers and thunderstorms across portions of North and Central Texas, especially around the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
Forecasters note some uncertainty remains regarding how far west the rain will reach and how much temperatures will cool behind the front. However, cooler conditions are expected to settle in early next week, ending the recent stretch of above-normal warmth.
Rain chances currently range from 20% Friday night to near 40% Saturday before tapering off Sunday.
