San Angelo, TX – As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, residents of Texas are encouraged to participate in the annual statewide tornado drill at 10 AM today. The test, organized by the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Angelo, is part of an effort to enhance preparedness and response during tornado warnings.

According to the NWS, at 10 AM, the agency will transmit a test tornado warning via NOAA Weather Radio, using the weekly test code. Those in the San Angelo area will also receive a notification on their phones alerting them to the drill.

The drill aims to help residents, businesses, and emergency responders fine-tune their tornado safety plans. Participants are urged to act as if a real tornado warning has been issued. This includes seeking shelter and adjusting their plans accordingly, whether at home or work.

Officials encourage full participation from residents, businesses, schools, and emergency teams to help build a more resilient community in the event of actual severe weather.
