Dallas, Texas – Texas is expected to close out January and move into early February under a warmer-than-normal and largely dry weather pattern, with above-average temperatures spreading statewide and little to no precipitation expected.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the Jan. 24–Feb. 6 outlook favors above-normal temperatures across Texas with below-normal precipitation probabilities. A broad area of high pressure is expected to remain in place, keeping storm systems displaced north and limiting opportunities for meaningful rainfall.

North Texas, including Dallas–Fort Worth, Denton, and Plano, is expected to see daytime highs running several degrees above seasonal averages, with dry roads and stable travel conditions along I-35, I-20, and U.S. 75. Overnight lows may still cool into the 40s at times, but prolonged cold is not indicated.

Central Texas, including Austin, Waco, and San Antonio, will also trend mild with dry skies, supporting outdoor activities and routine travel. West Texas, including Abilene, Midland, and Odessa, is expected to remain dry with noticeable temperature swings between cool mornings and warm afternoons.

South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, including Corpus Christi, McAllen, and Brownsville, will likely see some of the warmest conditions statewide, with minimal rain chances and seasonably breezy afternoons.

The primary impacts statewide will be tied to continued dry weather, including elevated fire weather awareness in typically dry areas and limited soil moisture recovery. Above-average temperatures are expected to persist into early February, with updated outlooks possible if the pattern begins to shift later in the month.
