Corpus Christi, Texas – A prolonged stretch of heat and dry air is raising wildfire concerns across South Texas, with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 90s through the end of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, elevated fire weather conditions are expected daily through Friday as warm, sunny conditions dominate the region. Highs will range from 93 degrees Tuesday to as high as 97 degrees by Thursday, with little to no rainfall to reduce dry fuels.

Communities across the Coastal Bend, including Corpus Christi, Victoria, and Kingsville, will see persistent heat combined with low humidity and occasional breezy conditions, increasing the risk of grass fires spreading quickly. Inland areas such as Laredo and Cotulla will also remain in the 90s, further drying vegetation.

Overnight conditions will offer limited relief, with lows staying in the 60s and increasing cloud cover at times. Despite the clouds, no significant precipitation is expected.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure equipment that could spark, and remain alert for fire warnings, especially along major roadways like I-37 and Highway 59.

The pattern holds steady through Friday before slightly cooler temperatures arrive by the weekend. Additional fire weather alerts may be issued as conditions persist.
