Fort Worth, TX – Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into North and Central Texas late Sunday night into Monday, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall and isolated hail, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
Forecasters say most areas can expect ½ inch to 3 inches of rain, though some locations near and north of I-20 could see totals exceeding 4 inches. There is also a low potential for severe storms, particularly west of the I-35 corridor, where hail and localized flooding may occur.
Storm activity is expected to be most widespread Sunday evening through Monday morning, gradually shifting east by late Monday. The DFW Metroplex, Waco, and Sherman areas will likely experience the heaviest rainfall during this period.
While uncertainty remains regarding the exact placement of the heaviest rain bands, officials warn that flooded roads and low-lying areas could become hazardous. Residents are urged to avoid driving through high water and monitor updates as forecast confidence improves through the weekend.
