Dallas, Texas – Temperatures will surge into the 90s and even hit 101°F in parts of North Texas by Sunday afternoon, creating elevated fire danger before a cold front brings relief by evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Sunday will mark the hottest day of this stretch, with widespread mid-90s expected across Dallas-Fort Worth, around 90°F in Waco, and up to 101°F near Graham and Breckenridge. Breezy conditions combined with low humidity will increase the risk of grass fires, especially west of I-35.
Cities including Dallas, Fort Worth, Sherman, and Temple will see full sunshine and dry air through peak heating hours. Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and properly dispose of cigarettes, as fires could spread quickly in open areas.
A cold front will move through Sunday evening, shifting winds and bringing slightly cooler air overnight. By Monday, highs will drop into the upper 70s to low 80s across much of North Texas.
The cooldown will be brief, with temperatures climbing back into the upper 80s and low 90s by midweek. Additional updates may follow if fire conditions worsen.
