San Antonio, Texas – Texas heat returns with intensity Friday, as San Antonio heads into a sweltering weekend with highs near 98°F and heat index values topping 101°F. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and watch for heat-related illness.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be partly cloudy early, becoming sunny by late morning, with southeast winds between 5 to 10 mph. Heat index values will climb as high as 103°F by mid-afternoon. Drivers along I-35 and Loop 410 should be aware of potential tire stress or pavement softening due to prolonged exposure to road-level heat.

Saturday brings no relief — highs reach 98°F again, and conditions remain dry with light winds. Sunday will be even hotter, peaking at 101°F. The evenings won’t help much either, with overnight lows stuck in the upper 70s and clear skies offering little cooling.

If you’re working outside, wear light clothing, take breaks, and drink water frequently. For anyone without reliable air conditioning, cooling centers remain open throughout Bexar County.

Looking ahead, a slight chance of relief comes early next week. Isolated showers and storms move in late Monday night and increase Tuesday and Wednesday, offering brief cooling, though humidity will remain high.
