San Antonio, TX — A wave of unseasonably hot weather continues to grip South-Central Texas, with temperatures nearing 100°F in parts of the region and fire weather concerns persisting through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, highs on Monday surged to 100°F in Del Rio and 98°F in Langtry. San Antonio hit 93°F, while Austin reached 90°F. The dry, breezy conditions have elevated the fire danger in western counties, where fuels remain critically dry.

The heat will persist through at least Friday, with daily highs in the 90s expected across much of the region. Forecasters anticipate minimal weather impacts through Thursday, but fire risk remains elevated, particularly west of Interstate 35.

Relief may arrive by Saturday as a shift in the weather pattern increases chances for rain. Isolated showers are possible over the weekend, especially in the Hill Country and I-35 corridor. Overnight lows will stay mild, ranging from the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor burning, stay hydrated, and monitor local alerts for fire safety updates. This early-season heat wave is unusual for April and may signal a hotter-than-average spring for Texas.
