Henrietta, TX – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped up a two-week traffic enforcement campaign along U.S. Highway 82 in Henrietta, resulting in nearly 200 traffic stops.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the enforcement period began on August 23 and concluded on Saturday, September 6. Deputies conducted 191 stops, issuing 48 citations and 143 warnings during the campaign. The highest recorded speed was 60 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.
The breakdown of stops included 347 passenger vehicles and 25 tractor-trailers. No motorcycles were stopped during the campaign, which focused on improving driver awareness and road safety on one of the county’s busiest corridors.
Sheriff’s officials emphasized that the goal of the campaign was not only enforcement but also education, urging drivers to maintain safe speeds and follow traffic laws. “We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and safe driving during this time,” the department stated in its announcement.
Traffic safety remains a priority for Clay County, as Highway 82 serves as a major route for both local and commercial traffic. Law enforcement leaders said more campaigns will be announced in the coming weeks as part of ongoing efforts to reduce crashes and ensure safer travel.
Motorists are encouraged to remain alert and follow posted speed limits, particularly in high-traffic zones. Deputies said they will continue monitoring areas with frequent violations to reinforce safe driving habits.
Details of the next traffic safety campaign are expected to be released later this month.
