Austin, Texas – Tornadoes have been confirmed in southwest Hays County early this morning, with the National Weather Service (NWS) reporting two EF-0 tornadoes that caused minimal damage and no injuries. These tornadoes, identified as Tornado #1 and Tornado #2, touched down near the town of Wimberley, with winds reaching up to 80 MPH.
According to NWS Austin/San Antonio, the first tornado occurred between 1:02 and 1:05 a.m. CDT, with a path length of 1.4 miles and a maximum width of 50 yards. Tornado #2 followed shortly, between 1:06 and 1:08 a.m. CDT, traveling a shorter distance of 0.59 miles and with a maximum width of 75 yards. Both tornadoes were classified as EF-0, the weakest category on the Enhanced Fujita scale, indicating that they caused only minor damage to structures and vegetation.
This storm system, which affected parts of central Texas, did not result in any injuries or fatalities. Local officials are continuing to assess the area for additional damage.
Residents are advised to stay alert as more storms may follow throughout the day, with additional weather updates expected from the NWS. The tornadoes left little in their wake, but caution is still urged for those in areas that may face similar conditions.
