Lubbock, Texas – A wide swath of northwest Texas is under a tornado watch until 11 p.m. Sunday, with storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 325 includes 24 counties, stretching from Lubbock and Hale to Baylor, Childress, and Throckmorton. The watch was issued at 3:45 p.m. CDT and extends through 11:00 p.m. as strong storms continue to fire along a dryline.

Cities such as Lubbock, Plainview, and Vernon should remain weather-aware this evening, as scattered supercells could develop rapidly. Rural areas in Cottle, Dickens, and Foard counties may experience limited warning time due to fast-moving cells.

Drivers on U.S. Route 82 and Highway 70 should avoid travel during storm activity. Residents are urged to charge phones, secure loose outdoor items, and identify their nearest storm shelter in advance.

This is the second tornado watch for parts of the region this week, underscoring an active late-May storm pattern. More severe weather is possible through Monday.

Tornado Watch 325 remains active until 11 p.m. CDT. Stay tuned to local media and NOAA weather radio for updates.
