Kendalia, TX – A National Weather Service (NWS) damage survey confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down in eastern Kendall County late Friday night, October 24, before tracking east into Comal County and dissipating near FM 306.

According to the NWS Austin/San Antonio office, the tornado developed around 11:35 p.m. CDT about four miles southwest of Kendalia and remained on the ground for nearly 20 miles, producing peak winds of 110 mph and a 300-yard maximum width. The twister moved east-northeast through rural areas and neighborhoods north of Canyon Lake, damaging trees, fences, shingles, and power lines before lifting at 11:58 p.m. CDT near Fischer.

Five electrical poles and a light pole were knocked down near FM 306, and several homes sustained roof and foliage damage. While radar indicated additional straight-line wind gusts near 100 mph, no fatalities or injuries were reported.

The NWS noted the storm also produced isolated wind damage south of the tornado’s track, likely from rear-flank downdrafts. Preliminary findings classify the event as an EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which ranges from EF0 (65–85 mph) to EF5 (200+ mph).
