Corpus Christi, TX – Residents across South Texas should prepare for a stormy midweek as showers and thunderstorms increase in coverage through tonight and into Thursday, bringing threats of flooding, damaging winds, and even isolated tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Corpus Christi, a cold front moving into the region will trigger widespread thunderstorms beginning late Wednesday, September 24, 2025, with chances of storms reaching as high as 85%. Rainfall totals of 1–2 inches are expected across much of the area, with localized higher amounts of 3–4 inches possible.

Forecasters warn that areas prone to flooding, particularly low-lying neighborhoods and urban streets, may see water rise quickly. Some storms may intensify to severe levels, with damaging wind gusts as the primary hazard. Large hail and isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out, NWS officials added.

The strongest storms are expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning, coinciding with the frontal passage. Travel disruptions are possible on highways and local roads due to standing water and reduced visibility during heavy downpours.

The NWS advises residents to monitor weather updates, secure outdoor items, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Additional storm watches or warnings may be issued if conditions worsen overnight.
