Goldthwaite, Texas – Residents in rural sections of Lampasas and Mills counties should remain indoors as a severe thunderstorm continues to push eastward Thursday afternoon, bringing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the storm was located 8 miles southeast of Goldthwaite at 1:38 p.m. CDT and is tracking east at 25 mph. The warning remains active until 2 p.m. CDT and could lead to hail damage to vehicles along with wind-related destruction to roofs, trees, and siding.
The storm’s path includes sparsely populated areas, with Moline being the most likely impacted community. While urban centers remain outside the warning zone, travelers along rural Farm-to-Market roads should use caution and avoid unnecessary driving during the storm’s approach.
Residents are advised to shelter in a sturdy structure and avoid windows until the threat passes. Emergency officials recommend securing outdoor objects and staying updated through local alerts.
