Fort Worth, Texas – Texans should brace for a scorching start to July as Fort Worth enters a stretch of dangerously hot, humid days beginning Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, heat index values could reach 104°F in Fort Worth on Tuesday, July 1, with afternoon highs near 96°F and only a slim 20% chance of isolated storms after 1 p.m. Winds will remain light out of the south, but the heat and humidity combo poses a risk for heat exhaustion — especially for anyone spending extended time outdoors.

High temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 90s through at least Sunday, July 6, with July 4th expected to top out at 96°F under mostly sunny skies. Evening lows won’t offer much relief either, staying in the upper 70s across Tarrant County.

Drivers along I-35W and I-30 should prepare for heat-related vehicle issues — check tires, fluids, and cooling systems before heading out. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activities between noon and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.

Outdoor events and travel for Independence Day may be impacted by the heat, though no widespread storms are expected after Tuesday. Use sunscreen and seek shade at all fireworks or festival gatherings.
