Houston, Texas – Scattered thunderstorms and sizzling temperatures will test Houston residents Tuesday as summer storms move in by early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop after 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, across the metro. Daytime highs are expected to reach 91°F, with heat index values approaching 98°F. Winds will remain light but could gust with any storm activity. Drivers along I-45 and I-69 should prepare for sudden downpours and localized slick spots during the late-day commute.

Houston will see slightly cooler temperatures Tuesday night, with lows near 77°F and lingering storm chances until midnight. Winds will shift from the south at 5 to 10 mph, with cloud cover gradually thinning into Wednesday morning.

By midweek, the pattern turns stormy again. A 60% chance of thunderstorms is likely on Wednesday, June 25, especially after 1 p.m., followed by partly cloudy skies overnight. Highs will remain in the upper 80s, and the storm threat could linger into early Thursday.

Residents should avoid non-essential travel during heavy rainfall periods and stay hydrated as the heat index pushes near triple digits.
