Dallas, Texas – Storms brewing over North Texas could unleash up to 4 inches of rain in the Dallas/Fort Worth area Sunday, triggering flash flood concerns and travel delays.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening, with the highest risk occurring between mid-morning and late evening. Showers and thunderstorms could bring 1 to 3 inches of rainfall, with localized amounts near 4 inches—especially over poor-drainage urban zones and low-lying creeks. Heat index values may also peak near 99°F before storms develop.

Motorists along Interstate 35, Loop 12, and U.S. 75 should prepare for possible hydroplaning or standing water during the afternoon. If you live in flood-prone areas, monitor alerts and prepare to move to higher ground. Avoid driving through water-covered roads and keep a flashlight and phone charger ready.

Sunday night storms should taper off, with temperatures dipping into the mid-70s. But the region won’t get much relief. By Monday, highs climb back to 92°F, with another 30% storm chance early in the day. Tuesday and Wednesday bring mostly sunny skies and rising temperatures, with highs surging to 96–97°F by midweek.
