El Paso, Texas – Scorching heat will grip the El Paso area Tuesday, July 8, as temperatures surge to 100°F by early afternoon, marking the return of dangerous summer conditions across far West Texas.

According to the National Weather Service in El Paso, highs will reach 100°F Tuesday and rise further through Thursday, when 103°F is expected. Winds will stay light, but humidity levels remain low, creating an elevated risk of dehydration and heat exhaustion—especially along heavily traveled corridors like I-10 and US-54. Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor work between noon and 6 p.m. and check on neighbors without air conditioning.

While Tuesday remains dry, a 30% chance of thunderstorms returns Thursday night, possibly offering brief cooling but also introducing lightning and strong gusts. Overnight lows in the upper 70s will provide minimal relief for households without sufficient cooling systems.

From Wednesday to Saturday, temperatures will remain between 100°F and 103°F with mostly sunny skies and limited overnight cloud cover. East winds shift southeast midweek, slightly increasing humidity. El Paso Electric advises residents to reduce power usage during peak afternoon hours.
