El Paso, Texas – Texans near the border should brace for sizzling triple-digit temperatures Saturday as El Paso hits a scorching 100°F by mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 9 p.m. MDT Friday, but Saturday brings a renewed risk of extreme warmth alongside a 50% chance of thunderstorms after 6 p.m. Lightning and gusty winds could disrupt plans near I-10 and US-54. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat and hydrate frequently.

Saturday will be mostly sunny until storms possibly develop late. Winds may gust up to 22 mph, increasing risk for blowing dust in open areas. By Sunday, slightly cooler temperatures near 93°F are expected, but a 30% chance of afternoon storms keeps outdoor plans uncertain. Isolated thunderstorms will remain possible each evening through Monday, with temperatures staying in the low to mid-90s.

El Paso Electric advises residents to reduce power consumption during the afternoon to prevent strain on the grid. Consider running major appliances after 8 p.m. and using fans to reduce A/C use.
