Houston, TX – Heavy rain and thunderstorms are set to impact the Houston area today, with the highest rain chances between noon and 3 p.m. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), residents should prepare for sudden downpours, gusty winds up to 25 mph, and minor flooding in low-lying areas. Motorists, particularly along the I-45 corridor, should anticipate reduced visibility and wet roads during peak rain hours.

NWS predicts a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms for Wednesday, with temperatures reaching a high of 85 degrees. Rain is expected to taper off in the evening, but scattered showers may linger until midnight. Southeast winds will remain steady at 10-15 mph, occasionally gusting higher during thunderstorms.

The wet pattern continues Thursday, with a 70% chance of storms and temperatures peaking around 84 degrees. Gusty conditions may persist, causing small branches and debris on roads. Commuters should stay alert for slick roadways and possible delays during heavy rain periods.

By Friday, rain chances dip slightly to 50%, accompanied by partly sunny skies and a high of 81 degrees. Showers are likely to lessen by Friday night, bringing cooler lows around 72 degrees.

Saturday’s forecast predicts milder weather, though scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible. Highs will be around 81 degrees, while Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with a high near 83 degrees and a 40% chance of rain.
