San Angelo, TX – Strong thunderstorms swept through West Texas overnight, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and hail east of Abilene to Junction. The storms are moving northeast, with gusty winds persisting through the morning.

According to the National Weather Service, rain and isolated thunderstorms will linger until 5 a.m., with potential hail up to half an inch. West Texas will see a shift to drier, breezy conditions Friday, with patchy blowing dust expected by afternoon. Wind speeds will increase from 5 to 25 mph.

Friday will bring mostly sunny skies, with a high near 65°F. Winds from the west will keep conditions dry but gusty. The weekend looks clear, with highs reaching 80°F by Sunday.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items due to strong winds. Drivers, especially on I-20 and U.S. Highway 67, should watch for reduced visibility from blowing dust.

Expect a sunny and warm trend through early next week, with temperatures climbing near 77°F by Tuesday.
