Hebbronville, TX – A fast-moving thunderstorm is bringing strong winds, hail, and heavy rainfall to parts of southern Texas this morning, prompting weather alerts in Duval and Webb counties.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the storm was located near Jim Hogg County Airport at 9:12 a.m. CDT and moving northeast at 20 mph. The system is expected to impact the Hebbronville area, including the towns of Realitos and Bruni, through at least 10 a.m.
Radar indicated wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea-sized hail associated with the storm. These conditions could lead to minor damage to vegetation and unsecured outdoor objects, while downed tree limbs and power disruptions remain possible.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring, with localized flash flooding a concern for low-lying areas. Motorists are advised not to drive through water-covered roads, as conditions may change rapidly.
Residents are urged to seek shelter indoors and stay updated through NOAA Weather Radio or local news outlets. This storm activity follows a period of relatively dry weather, increasing the risk of sudden runoff in flood-prone zones.
The NWS advises continued caution until the storm exits the region later this morning.
