Austin, Texas – Severe thunderstorms are expected to erupt across Central Texas this afternoon, with the greatest threat stretching from Austin to Kerrville between 2 p.m. and 3 a.m. Tuesday. Residents in the yellow-shaded zone—highlighted in Monday’s Level 2 risk area—should prepare for damaging winds, large hail, isolated tornadoes, and pockets of heavy rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, storms will initiate mid to late afternoon Monday and persist into the early morning hours. Areas most at risk include Burnet, Fredericksburg, Boerne, and Georgetown. A second round is likely Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night, maintaining the threat across much of the same region.
Localized flooding could develop in low-lying areas, and outdoor plans should be reconsidered. Power outages and road impacts are possible where winds or hail intensify. Residents should secure loose outdoor items, charge devices in advance, and monitor warnings using NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts.
This is the first multi-round severe weather event of the week, and additional advisories may be issued through Tuesday night. Stay alert and be ready to shelter indoors if storms approach.
