Houston, TX – The Houston area is facing severe weather threats this weekend as a cold front moves through South Central Texas. From late Friday into Saturday, damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes are all expected, particularly north of U.S. Highway 59 and the I-69 corridor. The National Weather Service warns residents to prepare for the possibility of severe storms as the front approaches.

According to the National Weather Service, severe wind gusts over 58 mph, hail larger than 1 inch, and even tornadoes are all potential hazards. Coastal areas, including Houston, Galveston, and surrounding counties, are also under marine advisories with rough seas and hazardous conditions for small craft. These threats will continue through Saturday evening as the cold front moves offshore, ending the intense weather.

Residents are urged to stay aware, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep multiple sources of weather alerts. The Houston area is particularly vulnerable to tornadoes and hail in the coming hours, so precautions should be taken immediately.
