Dallas, TX – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for 38 counties across Texas, in effect until 10 a.m. CDT Saturday. Residents should prepare for damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall as storms move through the region.
According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, the watch includes counties such as Williamson, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, and Gregg, with storms capable of producing wind gusts over 60 mph and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.
These storms may lead to localized flooding and power outages, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall. Residents should secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay alert for possible severe thunderstorm warnings.
The strongest storms are expected in East and Central Texas, including cities like Austin, Waco, and Lufkin. Conditions will improve later in the morning as the system moves east.
