Dallas, Texas – Explosive thunderstorms are expected to erupt across Central and North-Central Texas Friday evening, with hail as large as 3.5 inches and damaging winds up to 70 mph likely to impact multiple communities through midnight.
According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect until 12 a.m. CDT Saturday. The threat zone stretches from near Stephenville to south of Paris, including key cities such as Waco, Temple, Corsicana, and parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Forecasters warn that several supercells are developing and could quickly intensify, producing large hail, downed trees, and localized power outages. A tornado or two is also possible this evening.
Residents across central I-35 and U.S. Route 67 should avoid unnecessary travel and secure outdoor property. Hailstones this size can shatter windows and severely damage vehicles. Emergency managers advise charging phones, keeping flashlights handy, and having multiple ways to receive alerts.
Storms are expected to gradually weaken overnight, but additional watches or warnings may be issued if conditions persist. Stay weather-aware and monitor local alerts through midnight.
