Corpus Christi, TX – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for South Texas, signaling dangerous fire weather conditions due to strong winds and critically low humidity levels. The warning is in effect from 12 PM to 8 PM Tuesday for Webb, La Salle, and surrounding counties, with a second warning extending from 7 AM to 9 PM Wednesday for most of South Texas, excluding the barrier islands.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, winds of 20-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, combined with humidity as low as 5%, will create extreme fire danger. Officials urge residents to avoid open flames, keep vehicles off dry grass, and properly dispose of cigarettes to prevent wildfires.
The highest fire risk areas include Laredo, Cotulla, Alice, Beeville, and Corpus Christi. Fire officials stress that any sparks could rapidly ignite dry vegetation. Residents are advised to stay alert for emergency updates and adhere to fire safety precautions.
