San Antonio, Texas – Much of Central Texas is drying out after a 10-day stretch of persistent rain dumped between 3 and 6 inches across the region, with localized areas picking up even more.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, estimated rainfall totals from May 21 through May 31 show San Antonio received between 4 and 6 inches, while New Braunfels, Kyle, and Austin each recorded roughly 3 to 4 inches. Hill Country locations like Llano and Kerrville also reported 4 to 6 inches, contributing to saturated soil and elevated river levels.
Roads in low-lying areas saw brief flooding during peak rain days, especially near creeks and poorly drained intersections. TxDOT urged drivers to avoid water-covered roads during heavy downpours earlier this week. Emergency crews responded to several stalled vehicles in Bexar and Comal counties.
Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to stay weather-aware as runoff continues. While skies are clearing heading into the weekend, saturated ground may still lead to isolated issues, especially with any additional rainfall.
No new advisories are currently in effect, but the NWS notes that updates will follow if more systems approach early next week.
