Amarillo, Texas – Light thunderstorms could linger around Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle today, but a broader pattern of daily storm chances begins Friday and continues through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, scattered thunderstorms are possible each day from Friday through Wednesday across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. The probability of severe storms remains low, with minimal expectations for damaging winds or large hail at this time.

Communities from Dalhart to Pampa and Canyon could see brief rain, occasional thunder, and gusty winds, especially during afternoon and evening hours. While no widespread impacts are anticipated, drivers are urged to remain alert for slick roads and isolated downpours during commutes.

This pattern marks the return of early summer instability, common for the region but still capable of disrupting outdoor plans. Winds will increase slightly Monday into Tuesday, with gusts up to 25 mph possible near Childress and Shamrock.

No weather watches or warnings are currently in effect, and the NWS does not expect spotter activation at this time. However, residents should monitor updates as conditions evolve.

Thunderstorm chances remain in the forecast through at least Thursday, with updates expected daily from the National Weather Service.
