Amarillo, Texas – Warm, dry air and strong sunshine are dominating the Texas Panhandle today, with temperatures climbing into the low 90s in parts of the region and winds gusting up to 25 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, highs will range from 83°F to 93°F Sunday afternoon, with the warmest conditions expected near Clarendon, Childress, and Canadian. Westerly winds between 15 and 25 mph will accompany the clear skies, drying out already parched soils ahead of the workweek.

Cities like Amarillo (forecasted near 79°F), Dalhart (73°F), and Pampa (78°F) will enjoy mild spring conditions, though the wind may increase fire danger in rural areas. Drivers on I-40 and U.S. 287 should watch for crosswinds, especially in open stretches. Saturday’s highs reached up to 90°F with slightly calmer southern winds.

With sunny, dry weather expected to continue into Monday, residents are encouraged to hydrate, limit outdoor burning, and keep an eye on local fire warnings.

Another update is expected early Monday as the Panhandle stays locked in a warm and breezy pattern.
