Amarillo, Texas – Temperatures across the Texas Panhandle will hover in the low to mid-80s Thursday, with breezy conditions expected to impact the northern counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, highs today will stay near seasonal averages, ranging from 81°F in Vega and Boise City to 87°F in Wellington. Winds are forecast between 5 to 15 mph, with stronger gusts possible in northern areas such as Guymon, Stratford, and Beaver.

Residents in Clarendon and Wheeler could see peak temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, while Amarillo is expected to reach 84°F. Travel won’t likely be disrupted, but light high-profile vehicles should use caution in gustier areas, particularly along US-87 and I-40 corridors. Utility companies are not reporting any weather-related concerns, but localized dust could reduce visibility on rural roads.

These conditions reflect a typical mid-May pattern, with no major weather systems threatening the region in the short term. However, changes may arrive by the weekend.
