LUBBOCK, Texas – The South Plains are in for a picture-perfect fall weekend as clear skies, warm afternoons, and light breezes settle across the region. After a stretch of calm, mild weather, residents can expect ideal conditions for football games, outdoor markets, and pumpkin patch visits through Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Lubbock reports temperatures will rise into the mid-80s Thursday and Friday with south winds between 10 and 15 mph, occasionally gusting to 25 mph. A few isolated thunderstorms may pop up across far northern counties, but the overall severe risk remains low. For most of West Texas, sunshine will dominate from sunrise to sunset.

By Saturday, highs near 84°F will pair with light winds from the west—perfect for fall yardwork or a weekend drive down U.S. 84. Sunday will bring slightly cooler air, with highs near 75°F and calm breezes creating ideal conditions for outdoor gatherings and early Halloween decorating.

Next week, a modest cooldown begins Monday as highs dip into the upper 70s, signaling the slow approach of late-October’s chillier mornings. Lows through the weekend will stay mild, mainly in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

West Texans can count on several dry, sun-filled days ahead—so take advantage of this stretch before cooler, windier weather returns later next week.
