Amarillo, TX – The Texas Panhandle will see a stretch of warm, dry weather this week, but increasing winds could elevate fire danger by Thursday and Friday. Residents should stay alert for fire weather warnings and avoid outdoor burning.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday will be sunny with a high of 74°F. Early morning wind chills could dip between 27°F and 37°F. Winds will be from the west at 10–15 mph, with gusts reaching 20 mph. By midweek, stronger winds and lower humidity will raise the risk of wildfires.

Tuesday will remain sunny, with a high of 72°F and winds from the west at 10 mph. Wednesday’s forecast calls for highs around 71°F, with increasing southwest winds in the afternoon that could gust up to 25 mph. By Thursday, fire weather conditions could become critical, with highs near 74°F and continued strong winds.

The National Weather Service warns that fire weather conditions may persist through Friday, especially in areas along I-40 and south. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, avoid open flames, and monitor weather updates.

Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures will cool slightly, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Winds are expected to ease by Saturday.
