Amarillo, TX – The Texas Panhandle is in for a week of roller coaster temperatures, with warm conditions today giving way to frost potential Tuesday morning and rain chances returning by late week, according to the US National Weather Service Amarillo.

Forecasters say highs will reach the mid-70s to near 90°F today, especially across the southern Panhandle. A strong cold front overnight will drop temperatures into the 30s and 40s, with the northwestern Panhandle most at risk for frost early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will stay cool and sunny, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. A gradual warming trend midweek will lift temperatures into the upper 70s and low 80s Wednesday and Thursday before another system brings showers and thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.

Rain chances range from 30–40%, with the best potential Thursday evening into early Friday.

Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants ahead of the Tuesday frost and stay alert for changing weather conditions as the week ends.
