According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, storms will likely develop over the western Panhandle starting around 4 p.m., with the strongest activity between 5 and 10 p.m. in places like Dumas, Hereford, and Vega. The threat will shift eastward after sunset, with cities like Amarillo, Pampa, and Canadian at risk between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Monday.
Area 1, covering the west-central Panhandle, faces a 20–50% chance of severe storms, while Area 2—including Amarillo and the northeast Panhandle—faces a slightly lower chance of 10–30%. The main hazard will be damaging wind gusts, though hail up to 1 inch is possible. Tornado risk remains very low.
Travelers should avoid unnecessary road use during storm periods and secure outdoor objects. Power outages are possible. Residents are urged to monitor alerts and keep mobile devices charged.
