Amarillo, Texas – Drivers across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles could encounter patchy fog through 10 a.m. Saturday, with reduced visibility creating hazardous conditions on highways near Dalhart, Beaver, and Pampa. Motorists are urged to slow down and allow extra travel time.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, fog will be brief and scattered but may still cause sudden drops in visibility during the early morning commute. After the fog lifts, cooler air will keep daytime highs in the 70s across much of the region through the weekend.
Cities including Amarillo, Borger, and Guymon are expected to stay mild through Sunday, with highs in the lower to mid-70s. Canadian and Boise City may see slightly warmer conditions Sunday, before a sharp warm-up begins Monday.
By Tuesday, temperatures climb into the upper 80s and low 90s, marking a return to more typical September warmth. The National Weather Service says the warmup will stretch through midweek, with most Panhandle communities near 90 degrees by Wednesday afternoon.
Residents should prepare for a cool, comfortable weekend before adjusting back to summerlike heat during the workweek.
