A weaker round of storms may develop late Thursday, but the bigger change arrives Friday when a stronger cold front drops highs into the mid-70s and boosts storm chances to 60% by night.

Travelers along I-40 and U.S. 287 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads during heavy downpours. Outdoor events Wednesday and Friday evening may face lightning delays, and residents are encouraged to secure loose items ahead of gusty winds.

Cooler air is expected to linger into the weekend, with highs in the 70s to low 80s and continued daily thunderstorm chances. Additional advisories may be issued if storms strengthen.
